It’s not just you. There have been what seems like an exceptionally high number of foods recalled this year. From romaine lettuce to Duncan Hines cake mix, at this point it’s hard to keep track of what is and isn’t safe to eat.

That’s why Costco shoppers will be relieved to know that the beloved big box store has a system in place for when its products get recalled. This recall alert system is hardly a secret. In fact, it’s just one of many benefits that comes along with a Costco membership.

Taste of Home reports that Costco notifies its members about recalls shortly after they get word that one has occurred. And if their records show that you bought the product that’s being recalled, they’ll notify you directly via email.

It's not just Costco, either. Amazon will alert you if a food you've purchased has been recalled. And it's not Costco's only health benefit: They also can help you get fit with access to gyms

Just like access to deals on cars and mortgages, being a part of Costco’s recall alert system goes into effect the moment you become a member. Not a member? Don’t worry, you can still access Costco’s list of recalled items here.
