Good news for New Yorkers who are tired of traditional meatless burgers: Ducks Eatery in Manhattan's trendy East Village neighborhood is serving a smoky, juicy (read: delicious) burger that's made entirely of cantaloupe. And here's the thing: Thrillist reports that the mouthwatering burger tastes like the real thing.

To create the cantaloupe burger, Chef Will Horowitz cures and ferments the juicy meat, as well as smokes, slow-bakes, and dehydrates it to mimic the texture and taste of meat.
The dedication it takes to get to the final product is for sure inspiring and timely. We’ve seen jackfruit take the form of meat, and companies like Beyond Meat creating plant-based options that also feel, look, and at times “bleed” like meat.
