When it comes to big box stores, most people only have eyes for Costco. But there’s another heavy hitter in the bulk goods category that deserves a moment in the spotlight.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is our pleasure to introduce you, the uninitiated, to BJ’s Wholesale Club.

BJ’s, as it is affectionately known, boasts 210 clubs across 16 states, most of which are clustered along the East Coast. You can find them in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.

For all intents and purposes, BJ’s is just like Costco and Sam’s Club. It’s got great deals, finger-licking samples, rare finds, crazy perks, and affordable membership options. But there are also plenty of things BJ’s does better.

For one, it’s often cheaper. Personal finance expert Lauren Greutman compared 40 items at Sam's Club, Costco, and BJ's and found that BJ's prices usually beat out the other stores.

In a recent article for Apartment Therapy, one BJ’s super fan even went as far as to allege that not only are BJ’s better free samples more robust, but their rotisserie chicken is better.

Gasp!
