Amazon Is Offering Free Shipping for the Holidays—to Everyone
No Prime necessary.
Free shipping on Amazon.com is nothing new—the giant online retailer offers customers several ways to avoid paying for shipping, including fulfilling a minimum order requirement or having an Amazon Prime membership. This holiday season, though, Amazon is offering free shipping to all customers—no strings attached.
That’s right: You don’t even need a $119 Amazon Prime membership to enjoy free shipping for holiday gifts, hosting supplies, home essentials, and more. The special begins November 5 and doesn’t have a determined end date—it applies to all orders that will arrive in time for the Christmas holiday on December 25, so last-minute shoppers are out of luck. If you order by December 19 or 20, though, you may still be able to take advantage of the offer. (You should still plan ahead as much as possible, though.)
Amazon Prime members will still be able to enjoy their hyper-convenient free two-day shipping perk, but more casual Amazon shoppers will likely have to wait the standard seven to 10 days for their orders to arrive—still, it’s absolutely free, so early shoppers are in good shape for getting everything delivered on time. And with no minimum order, you can always order one or two small things you may have forgotten later.
Other ways you can enjoy free shipping this holiday season:
Amazon’s announcement comes on the heels of Target’s. In October, the brick-and-mortar retailer announced free two-day shipping with no minimum and no membership through December 22. As Amazon rolls out its Black Friday deals, though, it’s good to know you can get anything and everything you need for the holidays without paying for shipping.
With Amazon’s limited-time free shipping expansion, there’s a good chance you can go the whole holiday season with spending a penny on shipping, as long as you stick to either Amazon or Target (or both). And if you already enjoy free shipping as a Prime member, you can enjoy free same-day delivery on certain items. ’Tis the season, indeed.
