It’s no secret that we are big fans of KitchenAid stand mixers. We use them in our test kitchen and in our homes, and we stare longingly at any new colors. But even we’ll admit that the price definitely places one in the “splurge” category. (Though they often have great sales).

However, there’s a much less expensive mixer that’s about to arrive in the U.S—just in time for holiday baking (and gifting). Aldi’s Ambiano Classic Stand Mixer is currently sold in their UK stores, and will be rolling out at Aldi’s across the U.S. next month. Specifically, the appliance will be available October 18 as part of the discount grocery store's 'Aldi Finds' program, where they bring food and household products into their stores for a limited time.

According to the press release, "We tell our customers if they see something they like they better grab it now because here today could mean gone tomorrow!"

The 4-quart mixer comes complete with a stainless steel bowl, a dough hook (ideal for making yeast breads), a beater (for creaming butter and sugar for cookies), and a balloon whisk (great for whipped cream). You can toggle between six speeds, and the removable splash guard will prevent splatters. It comes in two colors: red and blue.

Full disclosure: we haven’t taken the mixer for a spin, so we aren’t able to directly compare it to the KitchenAid. While we would assume it’s not as powerful or sturdy, it does receive good reviews online, with one UK resident claiming it’s well made, and “unbelievable for the price.” We’re willing to say avid bakers and passionate home cooks should opt for the KitchenAid we trust and love. But if you only really use a mixer a few times a year, Aldi's product could be a great alternative. Plus, it's very convenient that it's available for purchase at a grocery store. Oh, and while you're there: check out our favorite four Aldi products.
