When you're pregnant, choosing to eat out might feel a little more risky. But one chain is specifically trying to woo expectant mothers: Smoothie King is now selling a new item, the "Premama" smoothie, specifically loaded with prenatal vitamins.

The new product is being rolled out at all 800 plus stores across the nation in collaboration with vitamin brand Premama. It's loaded with bananas, blueberries, raspberries, apple juice, spinach, a protein blend, and a full dose of prenatal vitamins, as well as an optional add-on of stevia-based sweetener.

Prenatal vitamins are loaded with essential nutrients that aid in a baby's development, and are recommended for pregnant women as well as women actively trying to conceive. The most important nutrients found within prenatal vitamins, according to the Mayo Clinic, are folic acid and iron, which aids in brain development and prevents anemia. Other nutrients sourced from prenatal vitamins include calcium, omega-3 fatty acids, copper, zinc, and vitamins A and C.

Smoothie King hasn't yet said which kinds of vitamins are being blended into the smoothie—but Premama's standard blend of prenatal vitamins contains iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, biotin, iodine, folate, vitamin D3, multiple omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins B12, B6, and B2. There's a good chance that Smoothie King's newest smoothie contains most, if not all, of these essential vitamins.

The loaded smoothie isn't too bad for an expectant mother's diet, either—there's about 280 calories, 260mg of sodium, 66g of carbs, and 40g of sugars (all naturally occuring). At our local Smoothie King in Birmingham, Alabama, where they're already slinging out the Premama smoothie, a small smoothie will set you back $5.71.

Of course, there's another delicious way to enjoy your daily dose of prenatal vitamins—and it starts right in your own kitchen. Premama offers a drink-friendly powdered mix of prenatal vitamins online, which is very similar to their traditional pill product, for just $20, and can also be shipped directly to your door to be added to any smoothie you make.

There are more than eight deliciously sweet morning smoothie recipes that clock in at under 250 calories available right here. And if they don't strike your fancy, simply add Premama's prenatal mix to any of our healthy smoothie recipes—you can still enjoy this tasty method of getting your vitamins without having to leave your own kitchen.
