Halloween is officially behind us, and we’re looking towards the other food-related holidays on the horizon. If you’re wondering what holiday meals you’ll whip up this year, you could take a note out of Jennifer Garner’s playbook and borrow a recipe from the Barefoot Contessa.

Jennifer Garner recently told Bon Appetit that one of her favorite recipes is Ina Garten’s Boeuf Bourguignon. Garner said, “The first time I made it was ages ago—we were shooting Alias in the early 2000s, and my co-star Michael Vartan had hunted down a signed copy of Barefoot in Paris for me.”

Garner said the crew of Alias had been filming all week, but she wanted to make something really special for them. She took a chance making this (somewhat complicated) recipe for the first time, but said it ended up being the perfect choice. “I didn’t have to get up to check anything or stir or sauté—everything had cooked in the oven, and we just sat and ate and talked and laughed.”

Now, Garner says she’s made the recipe many times, and has even doubled it for Christmas dinner with her family.

Ina’s version of the recipe sounds absolutely delicious, but it calls for an entire bottle of red wine (plus 1/2 cup of brandy), and is laden with sodium and sat fat. It’s definitely worth making for a special holiday meal, but it’s probably not something you’d want to put into your regular meal rotation.

Thankfully, we have a much healthier version you can make all the time—and it comes together in an Instant Pot.

Best part? The dish still packs all the flavors you love in traditional beef bourguignon, and the pressure cooker turns the meat fork-tender—not tough.
