Aldi Recalls 35,000 Deep Fryers Due to “Hazardous Burns”
Aldi can be a great place for stocking up on inexpensive produce and pantry staples, but the German retailer is also known for selling normally-expensive kitchen gadgets, such as pressure cookers, slow cookers, and deep fryers—at very reasonable prices.
Bargains on homewares are great, but unfortunately their deep fryers have had a habit of catching fire, which isn't so great.
The Ambiano mini deep fryer from Aldi—which was sold between February 2018 and March 2018 for about $15—has been recalled due to “three reports of the deep fryers catching on fire, including three reports of minor property damage,” according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Thankfully, no one has been injured, but those who have the Ambiano mini deep fryer are urged to stop using it immediately and return it to their local ALDI store for a full refund. Consumers can also contact ALDI at 1-800-336-9967 or find out more information on their website.
The deep fryers—which come in brushed stainless steel and red—have “Ambiano” printed on the front, and barcodes (#20072483, or #20072490) can be found on the bottom of the unit on the silver rating label.
