At Cooking Light, we take care to create memorable food photography. We hope every dish in the pages of the magazine and on makes you want to dive in, and for those who have been involved with a food photo shoot, it’s no easy task. Hours can be spent placing the herbs just-so or getting that perfect drizzle. At the end of the day, the result should always be about simple, delicious food, something I call "the yum factor" (see this on display in our cover recipe for December, Cranberry Swirl Cheesecake).

Based on the feedback and posts we get on Facebook, Twitter, email, and letters to our editors, we have a readership with a PASSION for food. And we love that. In honor of this swell of food-lovers this holiday season, we’re challenging you to show us some of the culinary creations you’re preparing over the next few weeks.

Upload a photo of any dish you deem beautiful (keep in mind, a plate of simply dressed greens can be every bit as gorgeous as a lattice-topped pie). We’ll accept photos via Facebook or you can email them to with HOLIDAY PHOTO CONTEST in the subject line now through December 3rd at noon.

The best of the best will appear in the first-ever reader-generated photo gallery on We’ll select 1 favorite, based on that yum factor, and the winner will receive a Kodak ESP 7250 All-in-One Printer* (retail value: $199).

Please include your name, the name of the dish in the photograph, and a sentence or two about where you served it, the history of the recipe, or some other anecdote. These don’t have to be holiday recipes; a weeknight dish will work!

*Our prize, the Kodak ESP 7250 All-in-One Printer, is a printer, scanner, and copier that has Wi-Fi connectivity, making it easy to set up in any room of the house. And you can print directly from your mobile device. How cool is that? Upload your photos today for a chance to win one! See complete contest rules, click here.
