"Who would've thought that the old tried-and-true, counting calories, is the best diet plan?"

Joyce Van Huis is a retired data analyst residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, with her husband Bob, who works from home as an accountant for a construction firm. Joyce spends her free time cooking, planning and entertaining. As she'll attest, "It's a pretty good gig if you can get it!"

Joyce started the Cooking Light Diet after getting some unsettling news at the doctor's office.

"I went to the doctor one day and I’d just decided—I just turned 60 years old. And went it did. Bob and Joyce started shedding pounds, and after they got past the 20-pound mark each, Joyce's sister-in-law and mother-in-law noticed and decided to join. To date, the four have combined to lose over 130 pounds* with the Cooking Light Diet!

"I mean, I've been on the liquid diet, the no-carb diet, the you-name-it, I've been on it," Joyce said. "And this is just so simple...delicious food that requires really minimum attention. And when you love food like I do, that's what you want. You don't want to deprive or starve yourself."

In addition to the amazing weight-loss success Joyce has shared with her family, she also received great news from her doctor regarding her diabetes and glucose levels.

"Before I got on the Diet, my A1C levels were high. And when I went for my three-month follow-up—the doctor had put me on medication—it had dropped to a level that's considered pre-diabetic. And I’m very diligent about following [the Diet] and not cheating, because you know what? …It’s common sense. The more weight you lose, the better your numbers get. My sister-in-law mentioned this as well the first week we were on this. All her GERD issues from processed food completely went away, almost immediately. She was taking—I’m not sure--but she’s not taking any of that stuff anymore. …The Cooking Light Diet is making a difference. Believe me. Just my own experience in our little group."
