Beginning this fall, Chobani yogurt will be available as a protein alternative in school lunches nationwide. The USDA program, which had an initial trial run in a small number of schools in the 2013-2014 school year, allows kids to pick yogurt over meat in their meals.

It's exciting to see this change in the school lunches, as Greek yogurt is a protein-packed yogurt that is minimally processed and great for your health. There are many benefits to choosing Greek yogurt over traditional proteins, and it's good to see our national lunch programs embracing it.

I know from my own public school lunch experiences, I would have been more than happy to choose Greek yogurt over Mystery Meat Mondays. Who knows—maybe some of the flavored Greek yogurts like honey will become an option for dessert as well.
