This New IKEA Product Makes Cooking Dinner as Easy as Painting By Number
This is as elementary (and as brilliant) as it gets, folks.
IKEA may not be your go-to when you’re in a cooking crisis, but they’ve found a way to make it near impossible to mess up your meal. “Cook This Page” are recipe sheets of parchment paper with line drawings of each ingredient in edible ink – similar to IKEA’s recognizable instruction manuals for furniture assembly. The recipe posters were recently introduced at an IKEA Canada kitchen event, and they take the error-prone guesswork and measurements out of the game by making the process of following a recipe closely resemble a coloring book. All you have to do is stay within the lines.
Just place all of the ingredients in their correct locations, roll up the parchment paper to mix it all together, and pop into the oven for the correct amount of time.
Drawings of every ingredient in to-scale illustrations – even the diameter of the sketches of salt and spices are accurate – means you won’t mess up by accidently over or under-counting how many spoons you’ve already added.
Recipes include salmon with herbs and lemon, a shrimp dish, and even a recipe that includes some of IKEA’s food products: ravioli with Swedish meatballs that use the Scandinavian brand’s own meatballs.
While the recipe posters haven’t reached market, we can’t think of a better, simpler way to start cooking fun meals with your kids with minimal preparation and cleanup afterward. At the end of the day, you get all of the credit for a well-made meal and you wouldn’t even have to pick up a measuring spoon.
