Our Favorite Bake Sale Recipes

View Recipe: Chocolate Sandwich Cookies with Marshmallow Cream Filling

When it comes to bake sales, anything goes. Our collection of treats are sweet, tart, gooey, and absolutely delicious. Uh oh, the sale is tomorrow? We have a few pantry recipes that will pull together in a flash. Take a flip through these favorites and you'll find the big ticket item for your next bake sale.

These sweet treats were inspired by the Moon Pies of the South. But, no matter where in the country your bake sale is, these sandwich cookies are sure to be a hit. They can be made ahead of time and frozen for up to a month if the cookies are tightly wrapped. Make sure to have the cookies ready when the marshmallow filling is made—the filling firms up quickly as it cools.

These no-bake bars come together quickly with common pantry ingredients, making them a great last-minute bake sale item. Make sure the cereal is well crushed (try packing it in a sealed zip-top plastic bag and using a rolling pin) so it incorporates into the peanut butter mixture.

These easy drop cookies are crisp on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. Chocolate minichips disperse better in the batter, but you can use regular chips.

Mashed ripe banana adds extra sweetness and flavor to classic bake sale fare. Recipe developer, Cathy Brixen said the banana allows for a reduction in the usual amount of sugar and butter.

Butterscotch Bars

View Recipe: Butterscotch Bars

A small square of these rich bars is more than enough to satisfy a dessert craving. Keep that in mind when slicing for the bake sale. The flour and oats mixture is somewhat dry after combining, but it serves as both a solid base for the soft butterscotch chip layer and a crumbly, streusel-like topping.

White Chocolate, Strawberry, and Oatmeal Cookies

View Recipe: White Chocolate, Strawberry, and Oatmeal Cookies

A mere one-quarter cup of butter yields crispy, light cookies and keeps calories in check. Dried strawberries lend fiber, color, and subtle sweetness. You can find them in larger supermarkets, or substitute raisins or dried cranberries. Because the dough is heavy, we used a sturdy stand mixer. You can use a hand mixer to cream the butter and sugar, then stir in the remaining ingredients by hand. These cookies will sell quickly—so be prepared.

Double-Chocolate Cupcakes

Credit: Photo: Randy Mayor
View Recipe: Double-Chocolate Cupcakes

These cupcakes are easy to make, and because simple ingredients are used, it's best to purchase premium cocoa powder and dark chocolate. Since they're studded with dark chocolate chunks, just dusting them with powdered sugar is enough to decorate these treats. Bake them in muffin cup liners. A dozen of these will go fast at any bake sale so be sure to bake an extra batch or two. Leftovers make great treats for the sale’s volunteers to bring home.
