Year-End Review: Most Popular Recipes of 2012
2012 has been an exciting year at Cooking Light. We celebrated our 25th anniversary, we hosted a memorable event—Light Up the Night—at the High Line in NYC in September, and, most importantly, we kept doing what we love: Creating delicious, healthy food worthy of your dinner tables.
I’ve dug through the metrics (nerdy, I know) and found some high points from the year, not based on what we (the editors) think, but what you clicked, searched, and pinned on CookingLight.com, our sister site Myrecipes.com, and on Pinterest. Here’s to the best of 2012 and happy cooking in 2013!
These are the most popular recipes of the year from our sister site, Myrecipes.com. Many are from our recipe archive; classics we return to over and over again.
Lemonade Layer Cake: From April 2002. Clearly an oldie, but a goodie. Pinned and pinned on Pinterest. We’d love to be at the summer party where that’s served!
Classic Beef Pot Roast: Comfort food never fails.
Classic Banana Bread: Banana bread and Cooking Light go together like peas and carrots.
Spicy Honey-Brushed Chicken Thighs: These spicy chicken thighs can be prepared in the broiler or on grill, making them a year-round staple.
Easy Refrigerator Pickles: All the flavor and homey goodness of homemade pickles without the need for kettle steamers, special jars, and vacuum-tight lids.
Fish Tacos with Lime-Cilantro Crema: Taco Tuesdays are the new Meatless Mondays. Make that fish Taco Tuesdays.
Here are the top-pinned recipes and collections from Cooking Light on Pinterest:
Summer Squash and Corn Chowder: This makes us long for the sweet days of summer.
Most Common Cooking Mistakes: Pin tips for the perfect boiled eggs, perfectly-crisp bacon, sinking blueberries, and more.
Pinto, Black, and Red Bean Salad with Grilled Corn and Avocado: From our June 2012 issue, this was a hit on our Great Summer Salads board.
Mississippi Mud Pie: All this needs is a cup of coffee.
