This Mother's Day, Bake It Forward
Mother’s Day for me has always been about celebrating the women in my life: not just my own mother, but the relatives and dear family friends who have nurtured me over the years. A special shout-out to pet owners as well—you’re mothers, too!
Giving homemade treats is my favorite way to show appreciation, a sweet gesture that means more (and tastes a whole lot better) than expensive flowers or candles. This Mother’s Day, Bake it Forward with these spring-leaning desserts for those you love.
Think of these Carrot Cake Sandwich Cookies like portable carrot cakes, with the luscious, creamy frosting on the inside to keep fingers clean. Stack in tall cellophane bags and tie with string for simple, pretty packaging.
Brunch is definitely a Mother's Day tradition, and this Blueberry Coffeecake with Almond Streusel is a perfect fit (and a reader favorite). If blueberries aren't quite ripe where you are, frozen blueberries will also work.
Mother's love chocolate (doesn't everyone?), and this triple chocolate Chocolate Zucchini Loaf Cake will satisfy any craving. Shredded zucchini keeps the cake supermoist. For contrast, omit the cocoa from half the drizzle for white and chocolate icing.
Tender, buttery Pound Cake with Strawberry Glaze gets a seasonal boost from fresh strawberries. For gifting purposes, the cake is delicious on its own. You could also include cards with instructions for making the glaze at home.
