How to Make Clean "Ice Cream"
Oh, bananas, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways: They can make delicious bread, repair damaged hair and now, as it turns out, magically transform into creamy, dairy-free ice cream. Who knew?
All you’ll need are frozen bananas and a food processor or blender, and the possibilities are endless. To start off, peel ripe bananas, cut them into coins and freeze in an airtight container for at least two hours, but ideally overnight. Then, whiz them up in your machine of choice until the last bits of banana smooth out and you’re left with a custard-like texture.
If you want to mix in extra flavors (see some of our favorites below), now’s the time. After you’ve reached your desired consistency, transfer the mixture into an airtight container and freeze until solid.
Ready to experiment with this bit of kitchen wizardry? While the bananas pack in enough sweetness all by themselves, here are some of our favorite add-ins:
• Peanut Butter• Honey• Cold-brewed coffee• Almond Butter• Cinnamon• Fresh fruit (strawberries, peaches, blueberries, watermelon, mangoes, pineapple)
