As the official media partner of the 8th Annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival, Cooking Light congratulates Chef Daniel Barron on his 2011 “Chef of the Fest” victory!
“Chef of the Fest” is the Festival’s annual competition that brings San Diego’s best chefs head-to-head in an action-packed culinary showdown judged by the San Diego Chapter for the American Culinary Federation. Daniel Barron, chef/owner of Evolve, an events company specializing in dynamic cuisine using modern techniques — and formerly executive chef at San Diego's Blue Point Coastal Cuisine — received top honors and the title of 2011 "Chef of the Fest" for his winning "Crispy Laughing Bird Shrimp, Curry-glazed Sous Vide Pork Belly, Cauliflower Espuma, Roasted Ginger and Kaffir Lime Air" dish. Barron, a James Beard nominee, rose to the top after taking home third place in 2010’s competition.
