If a candy company offers a pb-choco cup-type confection I'm going to eat it. It's my candy of choice. (Justin's, I love your minis. Reese's, you'll never do me wrong. Sun Cups, you still count in my book!) And as if I needed another reason to love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate, Unreal Candy introduced a crunchy peanut butter chocolate cup.
The crunch comes from quinoa. Yes, quinoa! It's a delicate crunch, kind of addictive. Think more like puffed rice snap, rather than raw quinoa bite. Non-GMO ingredients get the thumbs up in my book, and I especially love that it has no corn (some cups use corn syrup in their milk chocolate coating). That means I can share these treats with my friends' kids without worrying about allergy issues.
One cup has 80 calories, 2g protein, and 5g fat. They're packaged individually—a bag has 8 cups—so they're the perfect portion-controlled way to treat yourself after lunch or dinner.
It may still be a treat, but it's a better treat. That's a win in my book! And it was a win in our 2015 Taste Test Awards (probably largely due to my insistent lobbying). Now, I'm going to go sulk because Unreal Candy isn't available anywhere near me, and I've yet to road trip to any city where it is available. Use their product finder to find Unreal Candy near you.
