We Tasted It: Planters S’mores and Nut Mix
Happy National S'mores Day! Who doesn’t love a goopy s’mores (Sidebar: Is there a singular version of s’mores? S’more? Anyone?) treat around a summer campfire? There’s something about that crunchy-melty-chocolatey combo that hits on all comfort notes.
That’s why we were eager to try Planters' new intriguing s’mores-inspired nut mix. It’s a sweet-salty combo of peanuts, cocoa-dusted almonds, chocolate pieces, yogurt-coated graham crackers, and mini-marshmallows.
Some of our testers didn’t love the individual elements when they picked them out—if you’re the type, like me, to fish out the good stuff from Chex mix, this may not be the treat for you—but the components really worked (“It’s so addictive!” said one taster) when eaten together.
Other commenters mentioned that it’s a good way to get your s’mores fix without the hassle (a campfire in the office is probably against the rules, right?), and another staffer sprinkled it on her yogurt to punch up the flavor and texture. We liked how the cocoa powder gave a nice bitter note to balance out the sweet, and it was a nice little protein boost, offering four grams of protein in a 3 tablespoon serving.
You can find this limited edition combo on grocery shelves now for $2.99 for a 6.5-ounce bag.
