KitchenAid's Newest Mixer Designed for Millennials, Baby Boomers
If ever a small appliance had a cult following, it's the KitchenAid stand mixer. Bakers, cooks, and the kitchen DIYers among us fawn over the Michigan-based company's colorful iconic stand mixers. Now, they're adding a new addition to their fleet.
The Artisan Mini Stand Mixer is 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the brand's Classic Stand Mixer, which makes it ideal for individuals with limited counter space or those who aren't churning out large batches of baked goods. The Mini mixer's bowl capacity is just 3.5 quarts, while the brand's other models have 4.5-, 5-, 6-, 7-, and 8-quart bowls.
"Particularly among millennials, urban dwellers and empty nesters, we saw a desire for a smaller mixer that provides the same overall features of our larger models," said Derek Ernst, global marketing director for KitchenAid small appliances in a press release.
What's not downsized about this mixer? The price. It still comes in at a hefty suggested retail price of $399.99, so for many, it will remain a baker's pipe dream. (Start saving those pennies!)
The mixer will launch this summer in the U.S. and be available in 10 colors: Contour Silver, Empire Red, Guava Glaze, Honeydew, Hot Sauce, Matte Black, Matte Grey, Matte White, Orange Sorbet, and Twilight Blue. Like their older mixers, the Mini will come with a flat beater, wire whip, and dough hook. All of KitchenAid's hub attachments, such as the spiralizer and pasta maker, will work on this smaller appliance.
