8 Healthy Frozen Yogurt Toppings
Frozen yogurt is lighter than ice cream and makes for a tangy treat. These topping portions will keep a small cup under 300 calories.
Weighing in on the FroYo Trend
Soft-serve frozen yogurt came roaring back to the U.S. market about the time that Greek supermarket yogurts awoke a national
appetite for real, tangy dairy. The latest twist: Some froyo places are self-serve. That's nice, if you know how to eyeball
3 to 3.5 ounces (weigh it first) and deploy a modest amount of toppings. But it's incredibly easy to go overboard—which the
froyo sellers are probably counting on. The good news: Froyo is skinnier than most light ice creams and even supplies good-for-you
probiotic bacteria (look for shops that sport the "Live & Active Cultures" seal of the National Yogurt Association). Wait—doesn't
freezing kill the helpful little fellas? Nope, says the NYA. They sleep but they don't die, then wake up when eaten.
Start with 1/2 cup (about 3.5 ounces) of your favorite flavor and add a tablespoon or two of everything from fruit to more
indulgent treats. Click through the following slides to see our favorite combinations, from fruity to rich.
