One-Ingredient Apple Fruit Leather

One ingredient recipes are simply magical. Taking something as simple as unsweetened applesauce and dehydrating it in the oven yields a tart, chewy treat—perfect for snacking. Fruit leather doesn't call for any extra ingredients, and the process of "baking" here simply refers to the use of the oven, but in fact you are dehydrating the leather from any moisture. Try any type of smooth fruit purees, or stirring cinnamon or other spices (just avoid brands that have added corn syrup or sugars).

Apple Fruit Leather

1 (23 ounce) jar unsweetened applesauce (preferably smooth)

1. Preheat oven to 180°F, or 'Warm' setting. Line a baking sheet with a silicon baking mat or parchment paper, fitted to the pan.

2. Carefully spread applesauce in an even layer about 1/3- 1/4" thick.

3. "Bake" for 6-8 hours, or until applesauce is no longer wet and sticky. Using scissors, cut into strips and roll with parchment. Secure with twine or string.
