Project Team

Development: Steve and Marie Nygren discovered the property now known as Serenbe on an outing to introduce their children to the Georgia countryside. They purchased the first 60 acres, along with the existing buildings, in 1991, and in 1994 they sold their Atlanta home and relocated full-time to Serenbe. In 1996, they turned the 1930s horse barn next to their house into guest rooms and opened the Serenbe Bed & Breakfast. With a group of neighboring landowners now known as the Chattahoochee Hill Country, the Nygrens worked with local governments, preservation groups, and developers to pass the largest land-use change in recent history on 40,000 acres in Fulton County with corresponding overlay regulations. Today, Steve Nygren is the Managing Partner of Serenbe, the corporation developing the first hamlet in this overlay district.

Builder: Mac McKinney of McKinney Builders, Inc., has developed and built custom homes throughout the Atlanta area for more than 30 years. Having learned residential construction from the ground up, McKinney supervises all phases of construction on his projects. McKinney Builders is a member of the Southern Living Custom Builders Program, a group of builders throughout the Southeast selected by Southern Living magazine for quality homebuilding

With a B.S. in fine arts and a major in interior design, Simpson combines her education and profession into a successful and growing business. ccs specializes in new construction, complete home renovations, remodels, and staging for resale.
