Five on Friday: Thow-Together Dinners and How to Get Kids to Eat More Veggies

Great News: New research finds that when schools are required to offer fruits and veggies as part of meals, kids tend to eat more—on average about 0.45 more cups of fruit and 0.61 more cups of veggies per day, compared to students in schools without the requirement.   2. Thow-Together Dinners: If you're anything like me, at least one day a week I look into my pantry, fridge, and freezer and wonder what I can make out of all my mismatched ingredients so I don't have to run to the store.   3. Skim Milk Confusion: A new study links fattier milk to slimmer kids. Confused? So are we. Previous thought, and recommendation from the American Academy of Pediatrics, is that children should be weaned from higher-fat milks (2% and whole) at the age of two. Our advice: talk it over with your pediatrician if you're concerned.
