After giving birth to her second child, Kristen Zawitz decided it was time to start setting a good example for her kids. So, the 33-year-old Ohio resident put her best foot forward, choosing the Cooking Light Diet to develop healthier eating habits.

“I was looking to lose some baby weight,” said Kristen. “I used to sit down and try to go through cookbooks or Cooking Light magazines and pick healthy meals, but it was time consuming and overwhelming because there are so many options. I would just get frustrated or run out of time, so I would only make a couple of recipes. Other times we were filling it in with eating out, and I think that was part of the problem with how we gained weight to begin with.”

Planning and preparing meals for her entire family to enjoy, including a 3-year-old daughter and 6-month-old baby, has also been easier thanks to the Cooking Light Diet.

“With having to cook for a 3 year old, she’s not always willing to eat everything,” Kristen said. “I usually just go with what will work for everybody. We’ve tried things we never would have tried otherwise. It's been kind of an open door for us to all sorts of foods.”

But finding the door wasn’t that easy at first. Back in November when Kristen started the Cooking Light Diet, she wasn’t confident she would make it through the holidays with all the desserts and party trays that were sent daily to her office.

“I was really worried, but I just kept my mind on 'This is what I’m eating today,'” Kristen said. “I think the food is good enough where I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.”

Constantly feeling hungry on other meal plans was a  common struggle Kristen knew all too well. Fortunately for her, the Cooking Light Diet has ended that feeling of deprivation.

“We’ve [Kristen and Nick] kind of yo-yo dieted off and on our whole lives, but we both say that this time it feels different,” Kristen said. “I’d joined Weight Watchers in the past. We’ve tried just counting calories before. We would get more food, but it didn’t taste as good. Obviously if it doesn’t taste good, you’re not going to keep it up.”

And not only have she and her husband kept it up, but both have also managed to lose weight in the process.

“I’m down 25 pounds* now and my husband is down 28 pounds,” Kristen said. “We’re definitely eating everything we’re making, and the CLDiet really helped us cut back on food waste. I think this meal plan has helped us want to improve our overall health. It takes a couple of weeks to find your rhythm if you’re not used to cooking all the time, so just stick with it and you’ll find a way to make it work for you. We definitely intend to stick with this even after we reach our goal weight.”

And what is there left to do when you reach your goal weight and get your husband and two young children on board? Well, invite some others along the journey to help keep you accountable, of course!

“I’ve already gotten a few people in my office to sign up with me, and what I tell everybody is that it’s so easy,” Kristen said. “[The Cooking Light Diet] gives you different choices and you just go through and pick whatever looks good to you for the day. It creates your grocery shopping list for you. You don’t even have to think about it. The Cooking Light Diet saves time and it’s really helped us lose weight. What’s not to love?"
