Fall’s here. You’ve probably already stocked up on apples and pears and made some soups and stews.

But let’s also remember to switch from clear liquors to brown. Out with the vodka and gin, in with whiskey, scotch and the like. They’re great for cold-weather cocktails, and for cooking as well. Not that you can’t cook with vodka and gin, but dishes cooked with brown liquors just have that warm, comforting feel that’s perfect for the season.
