STEP 1: TREAT To counteract age and environmental damage, dermatologist Nicholas Perricone, MD, uses a fat-soluble vitamin C ester, found in his Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester 15 ($120/40 milliliters, perriconemd.com). Yes, it's pricey, but you only need a thin layer to help plump thinning skin.
STEP 2: MOISTURIZE Next, apply a moisturizer. I like Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Correcting Hand Cream ($15, clinique.com). It moisturizes for up to eight hours, exfoliates to instantly make skin look more even-toned, and lessens the look of dark spots over time.
STEP 3: PROTECT "UV light is also a major contributor to brown spots and uneven pigmentation, and it's a year-round problem," Perricone says. Apply a sunscreen with titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, such as Aveeno Natural Protection Sunscreen SPF 50 ($10, aveeno.com).
