Bake a Second Batch: Black and Boo Cookies

Photo: Randy Mayor

No tricks, only treats. Double up to share these Halloween sweets.

Everyday ingredients are all it takes to mix up a couple of batches of our spooktacular Halloween-themed cookies for you and a special group of treat-or-treaters. These chocolate, buttery cookies resemble both a classic sugar cookie and short-bread: They break with a crisp snap yet are melt-in-your-mouth tender. But don't let that fool you: The dough can be doubled without a hitch and is firm enough to roll and cut into fun shapes. The orange-flavored icing sets hard enough to slip one cookie into a cellophane bag or to box up a batch for delivery without smudging the black and orange seasonal effects.
