How big is your "pinch" of salt?
We asked a dozen staffers—editors and Test Kitchen folks—to give us a pinch of salt. Weights ranged from 0.06 to 1.32g, averaging
0.48g. Half a gram contains about 180mg sodium. A pinch that size per day for a year equals 65,700mg sodium!
Bottom line: Know your pinch—or measure.
