Downplay Saturated Fat
Scientists discovered that women eating higher amounts of saturated fat—the type of fat found in marbled meats and premium
ice creams—had more visible aging of skin (crow’s feet) than women eating less of these fats. If that weren’t enough, a new
report from the American Heart Association is one in a long line of studies to confirm excess saturated fat in the diet can
create the kind of low-grade inflammation that sets the stage for illnesses that age you, such as diabetes and cardiovascular
disease.
The Longevity Fix: AHA guidelines call for limiting saturated fat to 7% of calories; 16 grams for a 2000-calorie-per-day diet. And opt for
healthy fats, like avocado, peanut butter, olive oil, and nuts.
