Another Plus of Keeping Your Cool
Stress may be a given in your life, but how you handle it can make a difference in your health -- including your risk of stroke, according to a recent study at the University of Pittsburgh. In a study of 254 healthy postmenopausal women, researchers found that those whose blood pressure rose in response to stress had a greater risk of stroke. So coping better with stress, says lead researcher and professor of epidemiology Karen Matthews, Ph.D., may conversely lower your risk.
