Considering the virtues of full-body exfoliation -- it brightens skin, smoothes
rough patches, unclogs pores, and invigorates circulation -- it's no surprise
that salt scrubs have gained a cult following at spas and in showers around the
country. Here are a few of our favorite products to help you get glowing:
The Body Shop's Nut Body Scrub ($15) combines salt with moisturizing
Brazil nut oil for a stimulating scrub that smells wonderful.
Soothe as you scrub with v'tae's Bamboo Body Buff ($16), which features
sea salt and aloe vera. Oils of linden, artimisia, mountain savory, and organic
lavender recall the scent of a spring breeze.
Origins Pomegranate Polish ($30) contains sea salt and almond oil.
BlissLabs Hot Salt Scrub ($34) suspends Dead Sea salt in a self-heating
gel that contains stimulating rosemary and eucalyptus oils.
Because you just slather them on and rub, salt scrubs are easy to use. Do be sure,
though, to give the jar a good shake or stir before using to mix the ingredients.
Don't shave before scrubbing; salt can sting. And watch your step: Most scrubs
contain a surfeit of moisturizing oils, which can make your shower floor slippery.
