Bulletin Board Buzz: Thanksgiving Dinner
Get inspired by checking out menus on the bulletin boards.
Classic Thanksgiving Menu
By Cate O'Malley, AKA MISSINDI

It only took a second to see what the hot topic has been on the Cooking Light Bulletin Board lately—Thanksgiving. It should come as no surprise that this is first and foremost on everyone's minds lately. I can't believe Thanksgiving is this week already—I have barely started to work on my menu! But, in true fashion, the Bulletin Board is jam-packed with ideas to get me inspired. Let's take a peek.

The best place to start is the Thanksgiving menu thread that Tea4one began back in September (!) to get the ball rolling for our Canadian friends who celebrate the holiday a little earlier. Now that the US Thanksgiving is drawing near, it's kicking into a slow frenzy. My husband does our turkey low and slow overnight in the oven, which is perfect for us for many reasons: It frees up the oven for me during the big day, and we wake up to a wonderfully delicious aroma that fills the house. So, while I might be set with the turkey, I still have to figure out appetizers, side, and desserts! The Corn Fritter Casserole that McGee posted looks like a definite contender, as well the Smoked Salmon Crostini, the Sausage and Mushroom Stuffing, and the Herb Cloverleaf Rolls). Already five pages long, and this thread is just about menus!

If you don't get enough inspiration from that thread, Cooking Light has gone to the trouble of putting together many wonderful menu suggestions of their own, everything from a classic Thanksgiving or an Inspired Vegetarian Menu to a Cajun-Style Feast or a contemporary one.

If you need a specific item to finish up your perfect Thanksgiving feast, you'll find no shortage of inspiration. There's the Cranberry Sauce thread, one on Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, and even appetizer ideas (my favorite part of any meal!). And believe me, there's plenty more threads to pop in on—these are just a few highlights.

When you're looking to plan your ideal holiday menu, the bulletin board is literally bursting with ideas, from the traditional to the far-flung. But the most important thing of all is to relax and enjoy good food with friends and family. That's what it's all about. If something goes wrong, you'll get another chance next year, and kitchen disasters always make great stories anyway.

Happy Thanksgiving!
