Flavor description
Celeriac is a vegetable that is grown only for its root. A member of the parsley family, celeriac resembles celery in taste. Celeriac, however, is usually eaten cooked, unlike celery which is popular as a raw vegetable. It’s used in soups and stews, or cooked and eaten as a side vegetable.

How to use
Celeriac can be used instead of celery in most cases, and can be eaten raw or cooked. Look for roots that have a firm feel and are free of blemishes.

How to find
Available at most large supermarkets.

Substitutes
Turnips, celery, or parsley root
