Flavor description
Dried, wrinkled chile peppers that are brick red or mahogany in color. (Fresh ancho peppers are referred to as poblanos.) About 3 inches wide at the stem and 4 inches in length. Have a slightly hot, sweet flavor.

How to use
For most recipes, soak for 30 minutes in hot water to plump before using. Store dried in airtight containers in freezer for up to one year. They’re usually not added after cooking, but are often an ingredient in chili, soups, and sauces.
