Market Basket Challenge 2008 Official Contest Rules

Contest Begins: October 1, 2008. To enter, submit your recipe electronically by emailing marketbasket@timeinc.com. Each entry must include the following information: your name, address, zip code, daytime phone number, and e-mail address, along with your recipe's name, ingredients, and instructions.

There is no limit to the number of entries you may submit, but each recipe must be original, unpublished, tested in your home kitchen, and may not have won any other recipe contest. If submitting multiple recipes, each entry must be submitted separately. Entries must be received by Midnight CST, November 30, 2008. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Sponsors are not responsible for incomplete, lost, late, transmission defaults, computer server failure and/or delayed, garbled or corrupted data transmissions for entries. By entering this contest, you grant Cooking Light the right to edit, adapt, copyright and publish any or all entries and to use these entries in any media form or in any manner without attribution or further compensation.

Recipe Specifics and Categories:

Each recipe submitted must meet the following criteria:
• Each dish must be a main dish featuring either chicken or pork.
• You must use at least four of the following eight ingredients: winter squash, hot peppers, fresh spinach, mushrooms, apples, pears, walnuts, and bacon.
• Freely add common cold storage or pantry ingredients including, but not limited to broth, canned tomatoes, salt, pepper, onions, garlic, carrots, or fresh citrus juice.

Each entry must contain a note explaining how you came up with the recipe. Recipes must yield dishes with reasonable amounts of saturated fat and sodium. If selected for testing, recipes will undergo nutritional analysis and may be modified slightly to meet Cooking Light nutritional guidelines.

Recipes must list ingredients and exact quantities in order of use, followed by directions in paragraph form (including cookware type—Dutch oven, saucepan, baking dish, etc.—, cookware size, cooking time and temperature, and number and size of servings).

Finalists, Judging and Prizes:

All recipes will be reviewed to determine that all entry requirements are met. Based on expert review, finalists will be selected. All finalist recipes will be kitchen tested and judged based on the following criteria: 35% for taste, 30% for visual appeal, 20% for most creative use of Market Basket ingredients and 15% for originality of overall dish. Winning recipes will be kitchen tested in the Cooking Light Test Kitchens before being posted on CookingLight.com.

Any finalist who cannot be reached at the email address, phone number, and address provided will forfeit the chance to compete. In the event that a recipe includes an ingredient which cannot be easily supplied for final judging, Cooking Light reserves the right to provide a substitute ingredient that is similar to the original ingredient. If, for any reason, the Contest is not able to be conducted as planned because of circumstances or causes, which, in Cooking Light's sole opinion, affect the security, fairness or proper conduct of this event, Cooking Light reserves the right to modify the location, structure or nature of the final judging.

Winners will be notified by email. Names of winners and winning recipes will be posted on our Web site March 1, 2009. Each finalist will be required to sign an affidavit certifying the recipe's originality and his/her eligibility, a release of liability, and a grant of ownership rights in the recipe to Cooking Light.

Prizes will be awarded:

Grand Prize: Kitchen Aid stand mixer, $500 grocery gift certificate, and a copy of Cooking Light Complete Cookbook.
First Runner Up: Cuisinart food processor and a copy of Cooking Light Complete Cookbook.
Second Runner Up: $50 gift card to a home emporium store and a copy of Cooking Light Complete Cookbook.

Eligibility:

Contest is open to all legal residents of the United States and the District of Columbia. Entrants must have reached the age of majority (as defined by the state or governing authority of their residence) as of October 1, 2008.

Employees of Southern Progress Corp., Sponsor companies, their affiliates, subsidiaries, agents, suppliers and promotion agencies are ineligible, as are members of employees' households.

Privacy: By entering and providing the required entry information, you acknowledge that Cooking Light may also send you information, samples or special offers it believes may be of interest to you or other information or goods offered by its marketing partners. Information collected from online entrants is subject to the online privacy policy at www.cookinglight.com.

Legal Notices: Entrant warrants that with respect to his/her entry, the submitted recipe does not infringe on any copyrights or intellectual property rights, is original and has never been published or awarded a prize in a recipe contest. By entering this contest Entrant agrees to abide by the Official rules, and the decisions of the judges, and to release and hold the Sponsors harmless from any and all claims and liability with respect to the conduct, administration and execution of the Contest. Entrant agrees that his/her entry becomes the property of Cooking Light and hereby assigns his/her intellectual property rights to Contest Sponsors and permits Sponsors to use the recipes in any media, including on the Internet, for commercial, editorial, or any other purpose whatsoever. Sponsors are not responsible for technical failures in entry transmission or for lost, misdirected, or delayed mail or for any damage to participant's computer occasioned by participation in this contest. Sponsors are not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the Contest Rules, promotional materials, the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize. Contest is void where prohibited by law. All federal, state, and local regulations apply. Prize winners are responsible for all taxes. Names of winners will be posted on cookinglight.com.
